“If i were to use a power supply such as this one on a computer that only required 300 W or so, would it damage the computer at all? I'm planning on getting it so I'll have plenty of room for future upgrading without worry.”

Nope, it wouldn't damage it at all but power supplies are most efficient when used closer to 50-80% of their capacity.
