This unit has a single 40 ounce water reservoir.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.it does have it's own reservoir, but you can only put as much water in it as you want brewed into you cup/mug; it brews everything in the reservoir. Problem was that I didn't read the directions and filled the reservoir to the top and end up with about 30oz of coffee in my 12oz mug - not a good start ...
