QuestionHow do you remove the top from the carafe. It is not hinged. It snaps. For us it is very difficult to remove the top. We are afraid of breaking the thin plastic carafe top? Is there an easy way of doing this?

- Answer You need to pull the lid off from the handle side of the lid. The front portion of the lid fits into the carafe, and the "handle" portion of the lid snaps into the handle. Lift up on the portion of the lid by the handle and it should pop right off.

- Answer I would not recommend this model of cuisanart. My favorite is a Melitta. 12 cup. There are chooses of brew strengths and temp settings for holding it hot.
