“We experience quite a few brownouts and rolling brownouts in our area. We do have a whole house generator but it takes about 20 - 30 seconds before the generator spools up. Will we have any issues going from utility to backup to generator?”

The UPS will be able to keep your connected equipment running, though it will depend on the power quality and consistency that is output from your generator if the UPS will pass that power through as utility, or if it will remain providing power from its batteries.
