It is not necessary to install the discs when starting with the computer. The discs are there in case you need to completely erase and reinstall. If you wish to use discs with the computer you can buy a portable disc writer. Plug it into a USB slot, make sure to place it on a stable surface, and you're all set. I included two examples below: the Buffalo plays Blu-Ray and DVD discs, I use one similar to the LG which is less expensive but plays/writes onto DVDs only.
