“I see alot of reviews saying this isnt as vr ready as they wanted, and that its not worth it, but is it worth it in general as a stand-alone gaming desktop? I can always upgrade the parts inside to run better for VR later on anyways.”

I would say yes, just bought this for my 16 year old son for gaming and he has had no problems running all the games he plays.

If you do not plan to use VR then this PC is still an excellent at running games on a normal monitor.
