“does this device work similar to an HDMI switch, by which i mean does it have 1 input port and multiple out ports allowing a wired connection to be "split" between multiple devices?”

It allows you to plug in more than one Ethernet device to a single Ethernet connection. The connected devices will share the connection.

So 1 input and 5 output to multiple devices....great for gaming or running multiple computers off of 1 ethernet port. I used it to run a desktop....a modem....and 2 security camera receiver docks off 1 input.
