Yes, you would need an Internet browser that can run Java and/or the MyDLink Lite app on your smart phone. Note, however, there are limitations on what you can "control," remotely. Since the product does not have tilt/pan functionality your image is static. That said, with the 1150 you can turn sound on/off, take a picture, switch between day/night/auto mode, turn sound detection on/off, turn motion detection on/off, and turn extender mode on/off.
