They only go off when they are armed. You can arm/disarm in the app.

The app allows you to control things like notifications on motion detection, recording, etc.

It sort of defeats the purpose of having a security camera to enable turning it off with an app. You can unplug the unit when you are home, or disable the plug it is powered from by using an X11 or other app controlled IOT adapter such as MyQ if you have a hub.
