Is there a way to turn the audio off? null

Yes... the camera can be configured to turn the microphone off. The speaker on the camera is off by default every time you access the camera. If the camera mic is on for recording... and you access the camera from your phone.... the camera will record sound (if set to do so) but you will not hear it on your phone unless you turn the speaker on (it their software.)

You can only adjust the volume.
