If you are a little tech competent and willing to call D-Link support and have them step you through the installation then you can install it yourself. IF on the other hand you are afraid of and don't use computers at all including smartphones then you might be best to have it installed AND you will need training on computer use and smart phone use. A basic understanding of computers, internet apps, WIFI, etc will be needed or you will be frustrated and return the camera to Best Buy. BTW, having worked with computer software for 50 years I have a short attention span for difficult installations and usage of software and I was ready to return this camera because of the difficult installation. My hard of hearing issue made D-Link/phone support difficult but my smarter half talked to D-Link support and was very happy with their assistance, she is a novice with app installation. We like the camera with the only post installation problem being our DSL router hang up causing the camera to go offline. Avoid this by putting the router on a timer and power it off/on once a day.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, if you can connect a laptop or your phone to your wifi network, you can connect this camera. You can use WPS or manual setup. The dlink setup app scans the provided setup card QR code which makes setup very easy.
