Yes you can turn sound off. Theirs symbols on bottom for sound, taking pictures, & so on.

the sound it records on video? yes. does it make a small sound? yes, but only when it switched from light to dark room.

Yes, you can turn the sound on and off via the D-Link lite app.

Yes. You can turn the sound off that will broadcast from the room with the camera to the app. There is not a two way mic, meaning there is never sound that comes out of the camera from your phone. You can even set the default to have the sound on or off automatically when you open the app and select the camera.
