It may be recording because it is detecting sound, not motion. You have an option to turn this feature off.

It may be when there is an adjustment of light if you leave day/night option in auto, it is constantly adjusting light and counts it as a motion movement. But I also tried it without it and it kept doing it at least twice a day. Maybe it is too sensitive to light, or mosquitos or just dust, shadows, vibrations from another people walking by or heavy-duty cars that make the floor vibrate. I personally prefer it like this, as a mode to be certain that is detecting something and it tells me that is working. And no, I don't think is detecting ghosts :)
