you can turn off the status LED on back of camera, and when shooting thru a window at night you need to turn of the auto setting (set to daytime) to turn off infrared leds that will simply reflect off the window pane at night. then you will pick up any lights in the darkness, but not critters unless there is a separate outside flood light..hope this helps

These cameras are mainly aimed at indoor monitoring. Your money will likely be better spent on a weather stable outdoor camera system. Look for IP67 on labeling or something similar. Will
