No, this does not require a specific manufacturer's router. It will work with other brands.

No need for a D-Link Router as I use a Net Gear unit with fine results.

No, it will work with most routers - WPS capability on router is helpful.

Per configuration manual, The D link router makes the set up easier, but I have the ATT Uverse router, and the camera works great in wireless mode with that device.
