If set up right it will only record after it hears noise or has a visual motion alert.. It will hold a 32G SD card. I don't know how long it will last as I returned it (got hacked) You can either have the SD CARD stop recording when it's full or delete the oldest recordings as it adds new ones. You can watch and adjust settings remotely by phone or computer if you have WIFI.

According to the manual it can accept up to a 32GB micro sd card. Recording time widely varies based on a variety of factors: the size of your memory card, video resolution settings and whether or not you record continuously or by triggered event. You can set the camera to stop once the memory card is full or to continue recording and overwrite the oldest files. And yes you can watch the recorded videos from your phone.

Read online description because it clearly states recording overwrites when full. Yes remote viewing is supported on iPhones/androids. DLink recommends the 32GB SD card (Ive heard 64GB being used but DLInk says they only support the 32)-SD Card NOT included with camera It does overwrite as the card fills-I am just starting to use mine and figure it out so not sure on how much recording card will hold. Factory defaults have recording being captured in 5 second long clips. Time, size, quality can all be adjusted and Im positive this will effect the amount of recording that will fit on the sd card. As far as watching recording from cell phone, I have only been able to view LIVE camera view. Not sure if you can check the card recordings

Turning the motion detector off/on can be accomplished through the DLinkLite App, but initial setup of the motion detection will have to occur through the dLinkLite website.

I would think at least 64GB should work but there is no info about capacity limits in the manual. Yes, you can view the videos from your phone with the smartphone app, but it is incredibly slow to actually download it from the camera.
