• I had mine hooked up with an HDMI cable and I could never get the audio to work, even though it says it has audio recording

• Thank you for this question, we are more than happy to answer it! The DVR is equipped with one audio input for use with an RCA microphone or audio enabled camera. This will allow the DVR to record audio and video to channel one.
