Hey. So yes. They do need to be plugged into a wall surge protector like panomax wall plug. But you don't need to plug into a RCA for the bass. The speakers are designed to be best sounding with just the speaker wire plugged into it. Just ask Definitely technology. That's what they recommend. But I'd still get a subwoofer too!

You can plug in surge protector or wall. it does not matter but surge protector is always better. they need power for the subwoofer that is built in (bass) you will also need to run an RCA cable for the bass separate from the speaker wires they sound amazing!
