Short Circuit or Overcurrent Protection When you connect the SATA power cable to the hard drive, if the drive or cable is faulty (or misaligned), it can cause a short or draw excessive current. Modern PSUs have Overcurrent Protection (OCP) and Short Circuit Protection (SCP). When triggered, the PSU shuts down completely to prevent damage. That’s why you need to unplug the power cord to reset the PSU.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Just a guess but the first thing I would try is removing the C MOS battery, press and hold power button for 15--20 seconds, with battery out. This discharges all your components, capacitors, etc. Then Install New battery (check it with VOM installed). Restart and see what you have. Email me if still problems. GrandNationalMike
