I found it will not boot up with the hub plugged in. CMOS error indicates that the port (USB-C) does not accept power and that the laptop requires power to be plugged into the power port. It will do this even though you do have the laptop power plugged in. To get around that I think there probably is a CMOS setting that will over-look the power check. All I do for now is power up without the (USB-C) port plugged in until the laptop boots up. Once that is done, I plug in the (USB-C) port and all is set.
