Didn't do it because I bought this computer only for internet access so as to protect other computers. Their is only approx 6GB of additional space after the operating system and all it's peripherals, if you add too many more programs there wont be any space left unless you want to use the cloud. But this computer is originally intended to be substantially used in the cloud which is where you can load your programs if that's what you want. When you set up user accounts this computer tries to directs you to the Microsoft cloud, that is when/where I discovered that the admin account was originally set up to be in the MS cloud and if that were to be where you set up your accounts including the admin account then I suspect (not tested) you will only be able to fully use your computer when it is online. I am not an expert by any means but the above is what I found and suspect.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a previous version of this (Inspiron 3162) with Windows 10 64-bit Home. It also has 4GB ram, and 32GB eMMC hard drive (soldered in, not upgradeable). if you do a search through the Microsoft knowledge base, you will find that only "Office 13 Perpetual License" can be installed on different drive than the OS. Later MS-OFFICE versions are "click to run installations", and will ONLY INSTALL ON THE DRIVE THE OS IS ON. Meaning that if you try to install Office 365, it will go to the 32GB eMMC. Even if you put a 64GB micro SD in the slot as drive D:. Yes, this happens even if you go through "settings>systems>storage>change where new content is saved". Chrome will do the exact same thing, even if you downloaded the .exe to D:. My workaround (and not supported by Dell, because I spent over an hour on the phone bouncing around 3 different people, pleasant, but ultimately not helpful) has been to load the OS to my SanDisk Ultra 64GB, and make it the bootable drive. It has to be a FAST micro SD, or it's horribly slow. It feels about the same using the micro SD compared to the internal eMMC. I've been toying with the idea of getting a Samsung EVO Select or SanDisk Extreme Pro and see if there's an improvement, but until it gets cheaper, staying put.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes - any part of the Office suite seems to run well on the computer. I've had no issues running formula's/functions in Excel. If you're running complex macros, or some sort of script that typically takes a while, it might run slower on this system; but, for normal Excel use it's ok.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can have your excel and room for more. Purchase a new or used External USB 2.0 or 3.0 SSD OR HDD. IN Windows settings, storage , where to store data, Store ALL APPS, docs, pictures etc on the external leaving the base 32 GB drive for Windows OS and updates ONLY. Installing an external SSD perhaps a Nice Samsung EVO 250 or 500 GB would turn the little laptop into an overall better performing PC. I plan to purchase one of these Dell's with an external SSD TO keep my gaming Pc's offline As much as possible. Mike R.
