Go to Dell's website for your technical questions. Yes the SSD is up-gradable. it is PCIe NVMe so make sure if you want to do that you get the right SSD. It may go up to 1TB SSD but not with the Intel Optain from what I found. The active pen comes with it, as well as the power supply. It comes with a 4 cell battery and with the size I think that is all you will ever get. I was able to download the user manual with most of these answers from the Best Buy page, and a maintenance manual from Dell to help me understand upgrade capabilities. By the way the SSD may be up-gradable but the RAM is not. It is soldered on so the 16 gb on this one is it. And more than enough. If you want more go with a bigger machine, this one is perfect for traveling light.
