A:Answer I ran into this exact same problem a couple of days ago myself. Running Windows XP (yeah, I'm upgrading soon) and got the same message on both Chrome and IE browsers. Chrome directed me around it by going to the Control Panel, then Internet Options (or Internet Properties). Select "Connections", select "LAN settings", then under "Proxy server" uncheck the box. Save everything and it by passes the proxy server. I'm no expert, and don't know exactly how a proxy server works or what the advantage is, but this got me back on the internet.
