Yes, you can plug 3.0 devices into computer 2.0 ports and vice versa. Your speed will be limited to the 2.0 device/port.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Not always. I plugged in a 3.0 into a 2.0 and it zapped the power supply in my computer, and fried a monitor. I tried again on another computer and it zapped another flash drive I had plugged in to a separate usb port (to transfer files from one to the other). I now have 2 fried flash drives, a useless 3.0 drive and a fried computer that all were working fine until I plugged in the 3.0 drive.
