The battery is removable and replaceable if you remove the bottom faceplate. On average, when browsing the Internet, Dell told me that you can push out 13 hours on the lowest power settings when browsing the Internet and about 6 when gaming. The keyboard is backlit with a pleasant red, not overpowering your eyes at night and allowing you to leave it on during the day without making things too difficult to use. It also has three different brightness options: off, low, and high, and is controlled by using the F10 key, or by holding Function (Fn) and tapping F10. You can disable the need for the Function key for the multimedia functions if you like by holding Function and hitting Escape.

(Don't have to open up the computer to get inside, to remove. This feature rarer the days.) So this design allows having multiple battery packs to quickly exchange (while plugged into external A/C electrical power, for power continuity). Or just easiest replacement of battery. This is not a long battery life configuration. If there is an extended battery, could help enhance (easy swap battery). I doubt the battery time can reach what Dell told another customer in these answers. Battery is 40WHr capacity (medium-low capacity, close to lowest typical battery capacities), with a touchscreen. I expect realistically more like about 5hours max. I had this model once from Best Buy, & it was around that, new. (13 hours? Maybe if on, not running programs, & you don't interact with it, maybe need power savings modes also.)
