The computer has an Intel 8th generation i5-8265U 4-core processor, with a base speed of 1.6 GHz, that can "Turbo-Boost" up to 3.9 GHz. Like other 8th generation Intel i5 processors, the i5-8265U runs at different clock speeds depending on load. Watching mine in use using Task Manager, the processor has been running anywhere from 1.1 GHz to 3.4 GHz, depending on the load placed on the processor. At rest (that is, sitting around running background processes but but not doing anything), it seems to settle in around 1 GHz.
