“on my current (older) Dell Inspiron the top-left key is Delete and the power button is on the side. On this new model the power button is one of the keyboard keys, at the top right . Is this OK? Is anyone inadvertently turning off this laptop?”

It does take more force to press the power button compared to other keys, so I've never accidentally turned my laptop off. I would say it's a bit inconvenient not having the power button on the side though.
