It has 4 CPU core and 8GPU cores that make up the 12 stated. Here is info from AMD Historically, cores process data inside a processor. The more cores you have working together, the faster a computer will perform tasks. CPU cores were designed for serial tasks like productivity applications, while GPUs were designed for more parallel and graphics-intensive tasks like video editing, gaming and rich Web browsing. AMD’s latest revolutionary processing architecture, Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA), bridges the gap between CPU and GPU cores and delivers a new innovation called compute cores. This groundbreaking technology allows CPU and GPU cores to speak the same language and share workloads and the same memory. With HSA, CPU and GPU cores are designed to work together in a single accelerated processing unit (APU) , creating a faster, more efficient and seamless way to accelerate applications while delivering great performance and rich entertainment.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's a quad core on the CPU or processor and 8 cores on the GPU or the onboard graphics. It has an R7 on board graphics card but also has a discrete R9 360 dedicated graphics to help improve video quality for gaming. Dell calls it a 12 Compute core system because of the 4 and 8 cores working together as one.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If it's an 8800p, it's quad core. They might be counting the graphics cores too, but until HSA becomes a thing, it's disingenuous to count anything but the CPU cores. You're right, Carrizo cores just have 4. Only the FX 83__ series (or the prior 81__ series) have 8 cores.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It has 4 cores but 8 graphic cores but it is nowhere near a native 8 core machine Bad advertising. I bought and returned within a couple days
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's not an 8-core. Do a search for the Dell item # and you will see it is only a quad-core. I almost bought this before doing a bit of research. Glad I did. The listing is WRONG.
