For example, PS4 Pro/Xbox One S can upscale games to 4K (4196x2160), on this monitor it would still technically render as 4K from the console, but the display would show 1080 as the resolution. This would result in less aliasing and smoother edges appearing in gameplay. So, while this is a FHD monitor, anything running in 4K potentially could still improve overall image quality, but would not display in 4K.
