This should be compatible I use it with a 2011 Macbook Pro and have no issues. The one issue with an Air maybe the model year. Also Highly recommend displayport to displayport or to DVI , VGA will not display a good image.

The Macbook Air uses a Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) and the Ultrasharp monitor supports DisplayPort, VGA and DVI-D. Any Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort, VGA, or DVI-D adapter will work. Any of these adapters will provide you will excellent display quality. I hope this information is helpful!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This monitor supports VGA, DVI & DisplayPort. Skip VGA. Use either DVI or DisplayPort connections as they are both digital and will produce the best picture. Just check what video connector(s) you have on your Mac and buy the least expensive adapter or cable available.
