“I My old denon had a and b speaker terminals while this new one does not. Is it possible to hook both pairs into the a section without damaging the unit? Both sets are Boston's at 8 ohms.. thanks”

Denon claims the power amps are safe with 4 ohm loads but you have other options depending on what your trying to do. This receiver has 7 channels of powered outputs that can be configured various ways. The easiest, if your just interested in stereo, is to attach your second set of speakers as either the rear or zone 2 set and then play your music in multi channel stereo mode or on both main and zone 2.
