Yes, mine is 5.1 and it works great using "DTS Virtual:X® creating three-dimensional effects without height speakers. Mine are 8 ohms.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Absolutely. In fact, you can use the extra 2 channels for a second zone if they are not used as additional surround points. That is how we use ours. Can run to a set of outdoor speakers or the kitchen or wherever you can run speaker wire. Love the easy set up too. Easiest I have owned in a couple decades of setting up my own home theater system.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it will work with just 5 speakers.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This receiver will do 5.1 surround sound. It will detect if speakers are connected to the 7th channel output. This receiver will work with speakers rated from 4 to 16 ohms.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes the Denon AVR S940H can do 5.2 or 7.2 When you set the speakers it will ask rear surround one or two. So it can also be a 6.2 if you only have one rear surround speaker. It reflects the speaker count on the screen after you assign all your speakers. The 7.2 just means it can run seven speaker channels and two subwoofers total. If you look this unit up and read specs it will tell you the impedance needed.
