Hello. Yes - the AVR-S670H can work in 5.1 mode. It is not possible to know how well it will work with Bose speakers without knowing which model you speak of. Bose speaker sets can vary significantly with their amplification and connection compatibility. It is recommended to speak with with an audio expert at Best Buy to be make sure you have a pairing which will work well.
