“I’m having a hard time with hooking up Apple TV to this x3700h , The cable box works fine but when I hook up Apple TV to the receiver l loose all sound out of TV. To the point of having to unplug the receiver so TV can have it’s own speakers put out sound”

I assume that the apple tv device is connected via hdmi to one of the Denon's inputs (I use media player for my apple tv device). You need to make sure that the settings for the input that you're connected to specifies that audio is coming in to the HDMI connection. If it is, you need to go into the settings for the Apple device and check your HDMI/audio settings.
