The drone does have a gps system. You also have a flight record that you can trace to the drone. Ensure you have sufficient satellites before you launch. At time the M3 has a latency in acquiring satellites, you can launch with about 8 and hover about 3 feet to reach 11 where you are safe to go. If you go up with less than 5, you can have a fly away. Also learn how to emergency stop your motors and how to not panic when you think it is not responding to your commands. When your homepoint is locked, the drone will return to launch site if connection is lost.

There is a 'Find My Drone' feature in the DJI Fly app. It will show the last coordinate system position when the aircraft was lost. (This location records the coordinate system position of the aircraft in the last connection communication.) Should you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact our DJI support at http://www.dji.com/support, We are always here to help. Best Regards, DJI Support

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Maybe a answer. It has a Find Me feature inside the controller. It also always shows your location on map and records your whole flight path. Not sure if this helps but it’s all I know so far. Luckily I haven’t had to use it. It has come home 100 percent of time even flying RTH through trees or around something. This this is crazy smart. I’m only a beginner. It’s a great drone.
