• If the Printer is near the computer...Use a cable. You get best results wired. You can still use the wireless feature with your personal devices...Smart Phone, Tablet etc...

• If the printer is wireless, you should not need a cable to connect it. You should be able to connect to your wireless network directly from your printer, and then from there connect your computer to the printer over the network.
