“power won't stay on Requires holding pressure on top right area of black plastic to get power lite on. Then try to release pressure and get green power lite to stay on. Could this be a short in wiring? How is the best way to open this area? I have had this unit for several years and never had a problem.”

I'm glad that this shredder has not had any problems up until now. It sounds like this needs to be repaired, but repairs may not be cost effective, so I would suggest purchasing a new shredder. I apologize for any inconvenience.
