Hello there, This is Dan with Dyson. The 360 Eye contains proximity sensors to detect drops and and navigate around them. However, we would not recommend that it be used unattended in any area where it can access a down stairway or balcony. Nor should it be used in high or narrow spaces such as a shelf or stairs. Best wishes, Dan

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Dyson 360 Eye will not vacuum your stairs. It will vacuum right up to the edge of the top stair, but it will not fall down the stairs. I've been using mine for about 6 weeks ago. It has not had one single misstep at the top of the stairs. My Roomba on the other hand often got stuck at the edge of the stairs. It never fell down the stairs, but it was super annoying that it would get caught and stop vacuuming. I have not had that problem one single time with the Dyson even though I use it about 4 times a week.
