“My Dyson-Ball Animal did great on my old thin carpets but now that we have new carpets with padding I can't push the vacuum across the rug without feeling like I'm damaging them. Can I manually adjust the head? If not I now hate this vacuum!”

My carpet is pretty new with a good pad and I don't feel like I'm damaging the carpet. It could be that you're not accustomed to the amount of force required to push the vacuum across the carpet which is denser (because it's new) than your old carpet. Have you considered reaching out to Dyson customer service about it?
