Sometimes it does tip over. Yes there's a handle to carry the unit anywhere, and it is light weight.

Please try again later.There is a handle I personally feel the vacuum is light for the power it has the shape of it I feel would make it a bit difficult to have on the stairs but I'm not sure because I don't have stairs but I do have a 120 pound dog that drops hair everywhere
