A:Answer Yes and no: the glass isn’t fiberglass in the conventional sense. It’s not like glass fiber laced resin used to make solid panels, rather, the glass fibers are arranged in an orientation that makes it very effective at catching very small particulate matter. It’s a common design associated with true HEPA filtration. Now on the matter of it breaking down, the short answer is no. Over time, the filter can deteriorate and the glass structure can absolutely break down and send some particles out of the filter. The real world chances of breathing enough in to hurt you is virtually nonexistent, but in order for that to happen in the first place, the filter must either be damaged, are far beyond its useful life. I’m short, if you change the filters as regularly as you should, you can rest assured that there’s no glass matter coming out the business end of the filter.
