• It comes with a remote so you can use all the functions. The app is nice though because it tell you how much battery life is left in the vacume and when you should replace and clean filters and brushes

• yes there is an auto button on the top that will make the machine start and auto clean. It also comes with a remote controller too. You don’t have to have/use a smart phone

• The N79SE includes a remote which can be used to control the unit, along with a button on top of the robot that can be used to send the unit out for its cleaning cycle. Use of the Ecovacs App to control the robot is optional.
