Yes, though slowly. I'd suggest warming it in the microwave first then putting it in the mug to keep warm. I've put lukewarm coffee from my carafe in here and it will heat it, I just don't suggest trying to heat it from room temp or refrigerated. You'll burn out the heating element doing that.
