Hi, They are the same size but this one includes a special keep warm function which keeps your food warm for up to two hours after you are done cooking.

I actually used the compare feature on the website and saw that the 1809 has a 5.4 qt basket while the 1804 has a 5.2 qt basket. And the 1809 comes with a recipe book. If you haven't seen it in person, it's big! I didn't realize how tall and wide it would be but I still like it.
