I'd recommend getting a cheap hose to attach to the top drain. I have one hooked up to mine, leading into a 3 gallon jug, to empty whenever it gets filled. The last few days have been very hot in my location (Philadelphia, PA) and I've had to empty the 3 gallon jug twice in roughly a 24 hour period.
