A:AnswerI have had the same problem with printers which use ink cartridges. I have not had that problem with the EPSON ET-2650 ECOTANK PRINTER. Since it does NOT use ink cartridges but has ink wells which contain LIQUID INK you should have no problem with this printer being idle for long periods of time. Just make sure that you keep the ink well lids on tight, check the ink levels regularly and cover the printer so that dust, dirt, etc. doesn't get inside.
A:AnswerNot recommended, however, the printer doesn't use ink cartridges. It has "ink wells" that hold up to two years of ink. The bottle that holds the ink for refills costs less than $20.00.
A:AnswerI don't know about the name tags but I have printed card stock. (65 lb) Because it has a rear paper feed it does not have a 360 degree turn before going through the print area like printers with a paper tray.
A:AnswerNot automatically. You can print the odd pages and then the even pages after you have flipped the stack. It is not that hard to do but does take a little extra time and effort.
A:AnswerNO you can not automatic double side printing on this printer. :( I bought it thinking you could. You have to manually turn the paper over and put it back into the printer. The printer I replaced was way better than this printer. I'm not sure on the paper weight as I have only used regular printing paper. Print quality is not very good with this printer.
A:AnswerIt is recommended that you have all the ink colors installed because the ink is acting as a coolant for the printer heads that will burn otherwise if they run dry for too long.
I believe that every printer has the self protecting mode and stops printing if the ink runs out.
