- Answer I would think you are printing on the wrong side of the paper. be sure to load the paper in upside down, aka finished side down.

- Answer Scanning speed depends on the resolution (dpi) and whether its color or black and white. If you're scanning a photo, be patient and use the higher resolution, for other things, you can get away with a lower resolution and faster scan. Play with the settings to see what works for you.
