“I have projector connected to receiver and a universal remote. Settings: HDMI is ON, PowerOn: Device->Proj 1) Why wouldn't remote turning projector on? 2) How do I change default so that projector comes up in HDMI mode (instead of home mode)? Thx”

I don't believe there is a way to boot in HDMI mode. There is a workaround though. The Home Mode is just a Chromecast dongle plugged into an HDMI input hidden in the machine behind a plastic cover on the back, you can see a diagram in the users manual on page 93 or 94. If you remove the dongle you can plug your desired HDMI cord into the 'Home' jack.
