• To remove cartridges you must go to settings press on tools icon then choose maintenance then follow the rest of the instructions

• There isn't a release lever. I had to call tech support to find out that all the controls are on the touch panel. Find the one that says Replacing Ink Cartridge, press it, and the ink carrier will move to the middle so you can reach the cartridge holders.
