Is the ink expensive? null

I think it's pretty reasonable. A single color cartridge costs about $9 and you can get a C-M-Y three-pack for about $25. Individual cartridges are more cost-effective than printers with a single combo cartridge where you pay $35 for it and have to change it when any one of the three colors runs out!
